Construction Is Progressing According To Plan
Phase One (Youth & Administration) of Renew ‘22 construction is well underway and remains on budget and on track for scheduled completion by the end of this year. We're happy to report that our youngest Members can expect a seamless transition into the new Kids Centre early January 2024.
Good progress has been made in refining the architectural drawings, permit approvals and updating cost estimates for Phase Two (Food & Beverage) of Renew ’22. Project milestones achieved this summer include:
Our prime Consultant, hcma, presented updated designs to the Board, Management and the Member Design Advisory Committee (MDAC) this July. Their combined feedback contributed to refined detailed designs. We thank all the Members on MDAC for their dedication to the project and thoughtful contributions.
In August, our project and construction management consultants completed the fifth project pricing exercise. Construction cost trends continue to put pressure on project budgets industry-wide and the competitive construction tendering process in November will be critical to confirming that the currently envisioned Renew '22 designs can be built within the approved budget.
The Renew ‘22 Project Team has been working hard to manage these inflationary market conditions by prioritizing must-have features and getting creative with design and finishes.
Subject to permitting and cost results from the tender process, construction will start in January 2024, with the anticipated opening date for our new food and beverage facilities to be late Spring 2025.
Board and Management continue to be committed to staying on budget while maintaining the scope and integrity of what was presented to Members in June 2022. We are equally committed to keeping the Club fully informed as we move through construction.
UPCOMING FACILITY CLOSURES
In order to keep our promise that Members will always be able to get a glass of wine and chicken tenders through the Phase Two renovation window, construction on Intermission (our temporary restaurant to be located in the Club Lounge) and Bistro Lite (our temporary coffee/wine/snacks to-go shop to be located in Baby Haven beside the Sports Boutique) will begin mid-October and will be open to serve our Members as of January 2024.
To facilitate the build-out of these temporary facilities, the following facilities will be impacted:
Administration Offices: relocation from Club Lounge to new offices mid-October 2023
Club Lounge: closing mid-October 2023 to build out Intermission
Baby Haven: closing mid-October 2023 to build out Bistro Lite
