Renew ‘22 - July 2024 Update

Dear Members,

We are six months into breaking ground on Phase II of Renew ’22, and are pleased to share that the project remains on schedule and on budget. Here are the top five things you should know about Renew ‘22 at this point:

  • Demolition is 100% complete.

  • Concrete pouring continues as the construction team builds out the footprint of our new food & beverage facilities.

  • “Court 26” is open and ready for you! Take advantage of beautiful summer days on our temporary patio, an extension of Intermission located above Member Services/North Entrance. Enjoy new grill items and a few rounds of refreshing cocktails!

  • The Renew ‘22 construction site borders the ceilings in the Swim Changerooms and will require each changeroom to close for the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment within each ceiling. The Women’s and Family Swim Changeroom work is complete.

  • The Men’s Swim Changeroom will close on Monday, July 29 for approximately four weeks.

  • The new food & beverage spaces are anticipated to open by summer 2025.

Construction Progress Update

All demolition work on our old food & beverage facilities has been successfully completed. New footings and shear walls are fully installed, providing a strong foundation and seismic upgrades for our new facilities. These upgrades will also support the new suspended slab patio, a substantial addition to the space.

On the lower Bistro level, the new concrete foundation and structural walls are being poured and are nearing completion. Over 100 cubic meters of concrete have been poured so far, and much more is to come! Over the summer, installation of new roofing will begin, followed by drywall installation, mechanical and electrical work in September.

The upper level, which will house the main restaurant, featuring family dining, adult dining, bar, patio, and private dining room, are beginning to take shape in preparation for framing, marking an exciting phase in the construction process!

Budget

Phase II of Renew ‘22 remains on budget to date. The project budget includes a healthy construction contingency to cover any additional costs that arise as the project progresses. Despite the significant risk of extra expenditures associated with early project milestones, such as exploratory site work and demolition, contingency draws have been relatively minimal. The project team is confident with the contingency remaining and that Phase II will be completed on budget.
